A man charged with a Father's Day murder in Syracuse is now in custody.

Syracuse police arrested 22-year-old Kenric Platts on Monday. He's accused of shooting and killing 21-year-old Khalil Howard on the 300 block of Richmond Avenue.

Police say investigators quickly identified Platts as a suspect, and help from the public ultimately led to an arrest.

"The evidence is going to always be there, but what really tips the case in our favor is human beings," Chief Frank Fowler said. "When someone is willing to come forward and tell a story, that corroborates the evidence."

Platts is charged with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The police investigation continues.
