Prosecutors say convicted murderer Ganesh "Remy" Ramsaran admitted to trying to bribe a corrections officer to try and help him escape from jail.

Ramsaran pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of bribery in Chenango County Court. He offered an officer $100,000 in an attempt to break free.

Ramsaran is currently serving a sentence of 25 years-to-life in prison for the death of his wife.

The Evening Sun in Norwich reports that he will not receive any additional jail time as part of the deal. An expected sentence of 5 to 15 years for bribery will run concurrently.

Official sentencing is scheduled for February.
