Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz is the latest high-profile city official to test positive for the coronavirus.
A spokesperson said Sunday that Katz had a fever for a few days, but is no longer experiencing symptoms.
Katz told NY1's Errol Louis Monday afternoon that she was informed that she was exposed to COVID-19 about 12 days ago. She said she started feeling symptoms "about two or three days after that."
"We ended up getting a test, and it was positive," Katz said.
Katz told NY1 her family is quarantined together.
"I can only tell you that I have been one of the very lucky ones when it comes to this virus," Katz said. "My family and I have each other."
The former Queens borough president took over as DA at the beginning of the year.
A special election to fill her old seat has been postponed because of the pandemic.
