After years of discussion and months of delay following a previous attempt to roll out the program, congestion pricing is now in effect.

"The nation's first Congestion Relief Zone opened at 12:00:01 a.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025, and is fully operational," the MTA said in a statement Sunday.

Drivers who enter local streets and avenues south of and including 60th Street in Manhattan will be charged a fee, depending on the time of day and type of vehicle.
