It's now time for Democrats to have the spotlight.  Days after Republicans wrapped up their convention in Cleveland, delegates from around the country are gathering in Philadelphia to officially nominate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee for president.  Tonight's speakers include First Lady Michelle Obama along with Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Kirsten Gillibrand.  The start of the DNC is not without controversy and protest.  Today, dozens of demonstrators marched across the Ben Franklin Bridge into Philadelphia because they feel the Democratic National Committee "stole the election" from Sanders.  Supporters of Bernie Sanders booed their former Democratic presidential candidate today as he urged them to support Clinton.  The committee's chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is resigning her post after leaked emails revealed party leaders may have conspired to undermine the Sanders campaign.  What do you say?  What are you hoping to hear from Hillary Clinton and other Democrats this week?  Do you support the protestors outside the DNC who are still supporting Bernie Sanders?  Should Sanders do or say something again tonight to address their concerns?  Will Wasserman Schultz's departure after the DNC work towards healing wounds after the primary season?

Schiumo's Thoughts

Upset delegates.  Boos from the floor.  Division in the party.  It appears the DNC took a page out of the script of the RNC.

Your Thoughts

Tired of all the rhetoric and hypocrisy of all politicians.  The nation is crumbling in many ways and all they speak about is civil liberties/immigration/rights of foreigners.  This country needs to buckle down and get strong, straight, and fight for its Citizens (the legal ones) who have worked for decades and don't even feel at home anymore.  At least I know where Trump is speaking from/Clinton -- who knows?

19th century politics to govern 21st century America. How quaint!

I don't know what to do in this case. I'm actually scared due to this election. In one hand, we have Trump, who keep preaching his hatred of other people. In the other hand, we have Clinton, who is crooked. I was for Bernie Sanders, but now I have a dilemma. Sometimes the choices you have are bad ones, but you still have to choose.

I'm a registered Democrat, formerly a Republican - actually I'm a New Yorker so I'm independent and get out of my way.  First of all, Trump, Clinton, Sanders, Wasserman-Schultz - all New Yorkers, congrats to us, plus all those Supreme Court Justices from New York.  Now, we have The Donald, who was the People's Choice despite everyone and everything in the Republican Party working against him, and we have Hillary who had the Democratic Party machine working exclusively for her.  Do you want the People's Choice, or the Party's Choice?  Then again, as a New Yorker, I know that our economy here thrives on its rich and deep industries comprised of international trade, finance, media, and real estate - so who supports us the most, and who can our New York taxpayers buy to support us?  We need a tax base and a thriving economy to support the city.  I'll make up my mind in November.

Too much rhetoric, too long a campaign that created such visceral hostility - Sanders let it get way out of hand and now has to turn them around or it will be on his head and his alone if Trump is elected with his rabid dogs, spitting Giuliani and the shrieking bridge salesman from NJ...

Hillary is a dirty lying democrat that should be jailed

Hillary Clinton is dishonest, power hungry and ruthless. She will stop at nothing. Eight years of Clinton is more than enough. She was a disaster as Secretary of State.

These Bernie followers had better get real and grow up.  If they stay home or even worse, vote for Trump then the oligarchs will keep winning with their chosen dictator at the helm.  And all of this vitriol and hatred towards Hillary from both parties is 90% because she is a woman.

Democrats need to apologize to America.  The political process in the US is rotten to the core. Voting no longer counts. It's just a show. Election outcomes are determined behind doors. They give American's the illusion they are voting when in reality they are being manipulated. It's all a SCAM. Wake up America. You’re being duped.  Hillary cannot lie again that she had no knowledge of what Wasserman did. The fish stinks from the head down.  Hillary was right, America’s best years are ahead of her. But, only if Trump is elected.  More damaging emails are coming.

I believe that Bernie created the chaos and division that now exists at the DNC.  I believe that he deluded his followers.  he became mesmerized and hypnotized by the huge crowds that gathered to support him and started to believe in his own myth.  his ego became overblown. He refused to concede.  he convinced his followers that he could win.  he convinced them that there could be a contested convection.  he even convinced his followers that they could flip super delegates to his side because he was the better candidate to beat Trump, even though he didn't believe in super delegates.  he drove his people until the end by saying that he would never stop, that he would win, and they believed in him, when what he believed was impossible.  he created a runaway train and now doesn't know how to stop it.  no one should be shocked by this result, and it will cause problems for the democratic party and Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton is determined to become the United State's first female President at any costs.  She has lied and cheated her way to becoming the Democratic nominee and Liberal Democrats are willing to look the other way to see that she makes history. Hillary, along with Obama, are responsible for Libya's ruin and for this they will not get my support.  Neither will Trump for that matter.

The Democrats are out of control. i'm glad I switched my party to Republican I will vote for President Trump and V.P. Pence  in November, they will make America great and safe again. Wasserman-Schultz should resign ASAP, she let the e-mails leak out, that's not right, just like Hillary should be in prison because she had top secret emails on her server.... The protesters shouldn't worry about the DNC, they should off the sinking DNC ship and come on over to the Trump Train, there's still plenty of seats available... The Trump Train is moving to the White House come on board.America will be great and safe gain!!!!

They are a bunch of cut throats. They have no respect for citizens, the law, and it their own party. Does not matter what they say people like Meglomanic Bloomberg who skewered the rules to allow him to serve twelve years as mayor only confirm what we know. They are liars.  Trump all the way.

When people are looking for something you can usually find it Maybe that was the only times available and they weren't convenient for one or the other it's just what it is sometimes If these Bernie supporters think that punishing Clinton by voting for Trump Is really shooting themselves and the entire country in he foot.  Neither of them are truthful But Trump is a very dangerous man and what happens when he doesn't want to do that job we are all stuck with that wretched VP he picked If that happens or he has any say everyone will suffer

Jim UES

What am I hoping to hear?  That Mrs. Clinton stop shooting herself in the foot, and act like a candidate for president -- Mrs. Clinton should have ORDERED Schultz to stay away from the convention and not preside over its opening, instead of waiting for Schultz to decide for herself to forego the event.  One of the biggest problems this campaign may face, apart from Mrs. Clinton's ineptitude, may be the fact that she so far has shown relatively little of herself, in contrast to Mr. Trump. He comes to this race with a huge array of problems, but she's going to have to participate more and show a bit more personality than she has in the last few weeks, if she's going to defeat him. Right now, in terms of her personality and who she is as a candidate, there's no "there" there, as Gertrude Stein once observed.  Beyond that, given the sheer number of errors that Mrs. Clinton has made to date, and those Schultz made as DNC chairman -- allowing Mr. Sanders (who is NOT a Democrat) to run in the Democratic primaries being the first and bigger of those errors -- when this race is over, if Mr. Trump is defeated, I will feel relieved, but hardly grateful to Mrs. Clinton, who seems bent on running for president in the worst possible way, literally.  I should also add that allowing Mr. Sanders to address the convention only compounds the error made by Schultz in allowing him to run in the first place. He is not a Democrat, and he has stated that the only reason he ran as a Democrat was to get more exposure for his issues. I believe that he is a Communist, regardless of what he calls himself this year (and that is one of the problems dealing with Communists -- they change labels and "morph," but they don't change their beliefs; they're like cancer cells that alter their form and fool the immune system and invade the body. And you can bet that the Republicans would have been smart enough not to allow David Duke to address their convention, had he wanted to -- one only wishes the Democrats had been so careful about Mr. Sanders.

Bruce, Upper West Side, Manhattan

Bernie Sanders did have the nomination stolen from him, every trick in the book was pulled out by the DNC and the Clinton campaign once they realized he was a legitimate threat.  Closed primaries, refusals to release raw vote counts, and other methods of blocking voters from casting their ballots for Sanders have tainted this entire election process.  Trump is a nasty threat for sure, but Hillary is no better.  She should concede the nomination to Bernie so that in this Presidential election, there is at least one clean candidate.  Voting for Hillary just to keep Trump out is to ensure the perpetuation of the same 2 party system that is dragging this nation down.
