ALTADENA, Calif. — For more than four decades, Keni Arts has been a fixture in Altadena — standing outside with his watercolors, painting businesses, houses and everyday life.

In January, the Eaton Fire consumed so much of the Altadena he had painted — including his own home, where he had much of his art work and supplies.

Now, with the small box of watercolors he took when he evacuated, Arts is retracing his steps, painting the same locations he'd documented in the past before all that remains is cleared away.

"It's just a way for us to remind the world that we are still here and don't plan on going anywhere," he said.
