Another Halloween brought the return of another New York City tradition.

For the 45th time, the Village Halloween Parade stepped off in Greenwich Village Wednesday evening. And this year's rendition was filled with fun. Here's a look back at some of the top moments:

A Popeye Proposal

For one couple from Minneapolis, this year's Village Halloween Parade provided them with a moment they'll never forget.

Dressed as Popeye and Olive Oyl, the couple started talking to NY1's Ruschell Boone about the great time they were having. But when Ruschell talked about what a special day they were having, Popeye said there was one more thing he had to do.

The newly engaged couple got a special gift from NY1: a bag of spinach. The best gift Popeye could get!

'Thriller,' Unplugged

One of the traditions of the parade is for participants to dance to the Michael Jackson song "Thriller." But at one point, the music cut out.

It did not stop the participants from dancing, though. The show must go on.

Creative NYC Costumes

The parade brings out the best of the best in costume creativity, and this year did not disappoint.

The NY1 reporters covering the parade, for their part, dressed up as cast members from "Wicked."

The Traditions

Some parts of the parade that appear every year, like the dancing skeletons and the giant spider, were back again in 2018.
