It's been nearly a week since a growing number of New York state prisons have seen corrections officers walk off the job.

The action by corrections officers is a so-called wildcat strike, meaning it is not authorized by the corrections officers' union.

Striking officers are demanding an end to forced overtime, unsafe working conditions and a repeal of the HALT Act, which is a state law that limits the use of solitary confinement for inmates.

Antony Gemmell, an attorney with the Legal Aid Society's Prisoners' Rights Project, joined "Weekends On 1" Sunday morning to discuss more.
