Former city public school students are calling on New Yorkers to help current city students afford a college education.
With the help of the nonprofit NYC Kids Rise, alumni of city schools are organizing their communities to invest in students in the neighborhood elementary schools where they grew up.
The executive director of NYC Rise Kids, Debra-Ellen Glickstein, and Lisette Nieves, an alumna of PS 181 in East Flatbush, spoke to "Weekends on 1" anchor Rocco Vertuccio Saturday about the scholarship program.
