October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, recognizing everyone currently or previously battling breast cancer, as well as those fighting to cure it.

Nearly 17,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in New York each year, according to the state health department.

Anchor Stef Manisero spoke with Dr. Larry Norton, an oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, about symptoms, treatments and ways to support loved ones on “Weekends on 1” Sunday morning.
