The hip hop world is in mourning amid news that rap radio legend Isaac Freeman, better known by his stage name, Fatman Scoop, has died.

Scoop was performing at a concert in Connecticut Friday night when he suffered a medical emergency and was rushed to the hospital. His management company confirmed his death at age 53.

A Harlem native, Fatman Scoop spent years as a radio personality at Hot 97 in the city and recorded the hit 1999 single “Be Faithful”.
