Next weekend, more than 250 Navy SEALs, veterans, first responders and civilians will jump into the Hudson River for a good cause.

They will take part in an open water swim from Liberty State Park in New Jersey to the World Trade Center as part of the 7th Annual New York City Seal Swim to raise money for the Navy Seal Foundation.

The foundation is a nonprofit that provides several programs for SEALs, veterans and their families.

The Navy SEALs are the U.S. Navy’s primary special operations force, often ordered to capture or kill high-level targets or gather intelligence behind enemy lines.

Anchor Rocco Vertuccio spoke with Geoff Leard, director of New York City SEAL Swim, on “Weekends on 1” Sunday ahead of this year’s race.
