Mayor Eric Adams and the City Council are celebrating their recent agreement for the next city budget. It was a compromise between the cost-cutting approach pursued by the mayor, and members of the Council, who have pushed for more city services.

Andrew Rein, president of the Citizens Budget Commission, says the city should be setting aside more money for its rainy day fund, to cover expenses in the event of an economic downturn.

Anchor Rocco Vertuccio spoke with Rein Sunday on NY1 for analysis on fiscal year 2025 and beyond.
