The National Puerto Rican Day Parade is touted as the largest demonstration of cultural pride in the country. The route steps off at Fifth Avenue and 44th Street, marching uptown to 79th Street.
The parade is celebrating its 67th year, honoring the residents of Puerto Rico and the millions of Puerto Ricans who live in the U.S. and in the city.
NY1 anchors Rocco Vertuccio and Shannan Ferry spoke with Louis Maldonado, one of the board members of the nonprofit that organizes the parade every year, about this year’s events.
