Saturday is Data Privacy Day, the end of a weeklong effort to empower people to protect their online information.
Data is collected each day from computers, phones, televisions, watches or and even cars.
Pretty much anything that is connected to the internet gathers data, but there are are steps that can be taken to protect information. The city's chief privacy officer, Mike Fitzpatrick, joined Rocco Vertuccio and Shannan Ferry Saturday morning on NY1 to discuss data privacy.
