A tire shop went up in flames Tuesday afternoon in Jamaica, Queens, the FDNY said.
The FDNY received a called at approximately 5:15 p.m. of a fire at 150-17 Liberty Ave. near the intersection of Tuckerton Street, according to officials.
The two-story commercial building was declared a five-alarm fire, with 198 fire and EMS personnel from 44 units responding.
Officials say when the firefighters arrived, they were met with dangerous conditions and heavy fire.
According to officials, part of the building collapsed and the tires themselves made it difficult for the firefighters to extinguish the flames.
