NEW YORK - The Brooklyn Municipal Building will be named after late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Tuesday.
During his daily briefing, the mayor noted the honor is a testament to Ginsburg's roots and legacy that began in the borough.
"It's personal for us as New Yorkers," de Blasio said.
The building, located at 210 Joralemon Street in Downtown Brooklyn, was completed back in 1924.
According to the city's website, it currently houses offices for the City Clerk and Departments of Buildings, Probation, Finance, and Environmental Protection.
The building is also the site of a massive "Black Lives Matter" street mural commissioned by the mayor.
