The city will host a ticker-tape parade to honor the WNBA champion New York Liberty on Thursday at 10 a.m., Mayor Eric Adams said Monday on X.

The parade will start in Battery Park and head north to the Canyon of Heroes on Broadway, the New York Liberty said in a press release. A ceremony at City Hall will take place after the parade ends.

A fan event will also be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn at 7 p.m. Thursday, the team said.

The parade is open and free for fans to attend, but fans wishing to attend the ceremony at City Hall and the fan celebration at Barclays Center will need to claim tickets online.

The Liberty clinched their first WNBA title Sunday night with a 67-62 overtime victory over the Minnesota Lynx in a winner-take-all Game 5 of the WNBA Finals.

Thursday will mark the city’s first ticker-tape parade since July 2021, when one was held to honor health care and other essential workers for their work during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
