The R line will undergo a planned partial suspension for two weekends — Jan. 3 to 6 and Jan. 10 to 13 — as the MTA conducts structural maintenance, the transit agency said.
The partial suspension will take place between 36th Street and Bay Ridge-95th Street from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, the MTA said.
Free shuttle buses will make stops between 36th Street and Bay Ridge-95th Street all weekend.
The MTA recommends travel alternatives, including the following:
• For 45th Street and 53rd Street, take a Coney Island-bound N train or free shuttle buses.
• For 59th Street, take the N or free shuttle buses. Riders can transfer between trains and buses at 36th Street for the N and R or 59th Street for the N, the MTA said.
• For late night travel alternatives, take the N or use nearby 2 or 3 stops for Whitehall Street-South Ferry, Court Street and Jay Street-MetroTech.
• For DeKalb Avenue, take the Q or late night D or N.
• For service between Atlantic Avenue and 36th Street, take the D or Coney Island-bound N. Riders can then transfer between 2, 3, D, N and Q trains at Atlantic Avenue or D and N trains at 36th Street.
