As New Yorkers gear up for Thanksgiving Day, the city that never sleeps will certainly slow down, with a mix of closures and special schedules in honor of the holiday.

Here’s a list of what will open, close or run on an altered schedule Thursday, Nov. 28.

Government offices: 

Federal offices, courts and post offices will be closed for the holiday.

Alternate side parking:

Suspended Thursday, Nov. 28, then resumes Friday.

New York City libraries: 

Branches will close at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, through Friday.

Banks and financial markets: 

Most branches of banks will be closed for the holiday, though make sure to check your local branch. 

Both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Trading will resume on Friday but will close earlier than usual at 1 p.m. 

Public schools:

Schools are closed Thursday and Friday.

Sanitation: 

Garbage collection, recycling and street cleaning will pause for the holiday. For those who have garage collection on Thursday, trash will be collected the following day. 

Mass transit: 

Subways and buses will operate on a Sunday schedule for Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Saturday schedule. 

The Long Island Rail Road will run on a weekend schedule. Extra trains will run to and from Manhattan on the Babylon, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches before and after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

On Metro-North Railroad, the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines will run on a special schedule, with extra service before and after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, according to the MTA. The Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines will run on a weekend schedule, with extra trains on the Port Jervis Line before and after the parade.
