When New Yorkers tune in to watch the Yankees take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in game one of the World Series Friday night, they will also see a campaign ad for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

The 30-second spot, which touts Gillibrand’s work on legislation to help 9/11 first responders and veterans exposed to toxic burn pits, is also scheduled to run during the second game of the series, Spectrum News has learned.

Combined, the two ad buys, both in the New York City media market, cost “more than six figures,” according to the campaign.

As part of the ad, 9/11 first responders offer praise for Gillibrand, a Democrat. The senator, on camera, then says, “I worked with whoever it took – Republicans, Democrats – to deliver for our heroes.”

Gillibrand is running for a third full term as New York’s junior senator. She is fending off a challenge from Republican Mike Sapraicone, a former NYPD detective.

A recent poll from Siena College found Gillibrand ahead by 26 points.
