NEW YORK - Guardian Angels founder and WABC talk-radio shock jock Curtis Sliwa says he plans to run for mayor in 2021.
Speaking to the New York Post, Sliwa says he is the only "candidate with onions to take back the city."
He has yet to officially file paperwork to run but, he did re-register from a Reform Party member to Republican and would run on the GOP line.
Sliwa launched the crime-fighting Guardian Angels’ group 40 years ago to patrol the subways and streets when the city was overrun by crime.
He says he's worried the dark days are coming back because of soft-on crime Democratic policies.
His platform includes ditching the mayor’s security detail and add more officers in uniform to fight crime.
He also wants to keep Rikers Island open as well as open more psychiatric facilities to aid mentally ill homeless people.
