CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is expanding its travel restrictions on all nonessential university-travel to now include Italy.
- All spring 2020 travel abroad programs in Italy are cancelled
- The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued a Level 3, Avoid Nonessential Travel advisory for Italy
- Travel registrations are already in place for China and South Korea
According to a press release issued by UNC-Chapel Hill, all spring 2020 travel abroad programs for Italy are cancelled. The decision to cancel has been guided by the U.S. Department of State’s issuing of a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also issued a Level 3, Avoid Nonessential Travel advisory for Italy.
The release also states that students, faculty, and staff who are engaged in research in the restricted countries are to contact global operations specialist Andrew Hunt for further review and approval.
Travel restrictions are also in place for China and South Korea.
