City beaches officially open for the season this weekend.
Lifeguards will be watching the waters starting this Saturday. Beaches will be staffed every day through Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Swimming is not allowed if a lifeguard is not on duty.
All 14 miles of city run beaches are free and open to the public.
A new ad campaign is trying to keep swimmers safe in the water, and know what to do in the event of an emergency.
Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and Kaitlin Krause, executive director of Rising Tide Effect, joined “The Rush Hour” on Thursday, offered an exclusive look at the campaign, and shared tips for staying safe while swimming this summer.
