The City Council is calling for more investments in affordable housing and infrastructure in the city.
As the budget is in the final stages of negotiations, various City Council committees have held executive budget hearings to call for more funding.
"To put it simply, we have a mayor who ran on a platform of housing affordability," Chair of the City Council's Committee on Housing and Buildings, Pierina Sanchez said. "He said he was going to dedicate $4 billion per year to the development and preservation of affordable housing. And we are still a far cry from that."
Sanchez represents the 14th District, which includes the Bronx neighborhoods of Kingsbridge, Fordham, University Heights, Mount Eden and Mount Hope.
Sanchez joined "The Rush Hour" on Wednesday to talk about the main takeaways of the hearing and what her committee is calling for.
