The Museum Mile Festival returns to Manhattan Tuesday night, offering free admission to eight museums along Fifth Avenue.

The 47th annual event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The following museums will open their doors to the public at no cost during those hours:

  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Neue Galerie New York
  • Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
  • Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum
  • The Jewish Museum
  • Museum of the City of New York
  • El Museo del Barrio
  • The Africa Center

Fifth Avenue between East 79th and East 109th streets will be closed to traffic for the festival, the city Department of Transportation said, transforming the area into a pedestrian-only plaza.

In addition to free admission, museum-goers can enjoy a block party with live performances, art activities, food vendors and more.

No registration is required, and the event takes place in rain or shine.
