TAMPA, FL - A new head coach, a new system, a new everything.

  • The Buccaneers will wrap up mandatory mini-camp on Thursday
  • It's been a complete overhaul of the offensive and defensive schemes under new head coach Bruce Arians
  • Training camp will begin in late July

The Tampa Bay Bucs have a lot to absorb before the season begins and time is running out.

There is no learning curve in the NFL.

The Bucs know that better than most. A new offense to learn, a new defensive scheme and so little time to retain it all. Minicamp is winding down and with it, the final days of practice before training camp opens next month. These are cram session days for Bucs players as they try to absorb as much of the playbook before the season kicks off.

"When you have a new offense, there's a whole lot of terminology change, a lot of learning the intricate details of each and every route, each and every concept," wide receiver Chris Godwin said.  "So, it's been a work in progress, but we'll get there."

"We put our guys in specific situations every day just so we can become a smarter football team," head coach Bruce Arians said. "Because you never know when they're going to happen in a game. Today, 22 seconds with no timeouts. Back at the eight with two timeouts.

"Every day its a must win the game scenario."

It's a must-win season for the Bucs. That's why Bruce Arians is here.

Tampa Bay's season kicks off in two months and with it a hope building up from the team and its fan base that there will be a different outcome than in years past.
