STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Some signs on the Staten Island Expressway may have some drivers scratching their heads.

Goethals Bridge is misspelled on at least two signs on the westbound side of the roadway.

The correct spelling is "Goethals" but the O and the E are reversed on the signs.

It's not clear when the signs were installed.

A spokesperson for the state Department of Transportation said the signs will be fixed

"We are aware of the misspelling of the signs and are taking immediate steps to address the issue with the contractor who was responsible for fabrication and installation," spokesperson Joseph Morrissey said in an email to NY1. "The signs will be fixed within the next few days at the contractor’s expense.
