Representative Dan Donovan honors two professors at the College of Staten Island.
Professors Efrain Ferrer and Vivian Incera received a grant from the National Science Foundation.
They were awarded $180,000 for their research in nuclear theory.
Research that involves the discovery of new phases of matter and an experiment exploring new facts about stars.
Donovan says their research could lead to more job opportunities for students in science.
"The industry comes to congress and expresses their desire to have trained people to fill positions." said Rep Dan Donovan
"The grant is giving us the opportunity to train students to do the research we are doing and to have the opportunity to go to conferences ." said Dean Vivian Incera
Rep Donovan also took a tour of the science and tech labs while visiting the college.
