"5 Boro Power Yoga" studio owner Karen Torrone hosted her 6th annual Thanksgiving charity yoga class Thursday morning. Nearly 50 "yogis" took part in the by-donation class. This year Torrone collected food and monetary donations for local non-profit food pantry "Project Hospitality." She's also collecting paperback books to send to military members overseas.
"It's my choice as a studio owner, as a business owner, to bring an awareness and a mindfulness to our community to remember those who, especially here on Staten Island, who don't have food on their table tonight," said Torrone.
"I like to come out for the community and this is a good class to support Project Hospitality and I'll be with my family later but I wanted to be with my yoga family as well this morning," said Annadale resident Kristina Tisellano.
Torrone is accepting donations through Sunday. For more information, visit 5boropoweryoga.com.
