The borough is buzzing with the sound of music.
Make Music New York's summer concert series made a stop at the St. George Ferry Terminal Tuesday.
The one-day event brings more than a thousand free shows to public spaces acoss the city.
Local musicians say the celebration helps put Staten Island on the map when it comes to arts and culture.
"We get to pal around with Brooklynites and other boroughs and musicians from all over and we get to say we also have some good music," said Musician Eric Alter.
"To share the stage with people who are not from here that again, sharing ideas and things like that so it's important that we as Staten Islanders involve ourselves in citywide projects," said Gena Mimozo of the Culture Lounge.
The non profit also holds a similar event in the winter.
