City beaches throughout Brooklyn and Queens, as well as Jacob Riis Beach remain closed for a third consecutive day Monday due to dangerous rip currents, city officials said Sunday.
Swimming and wading are not permitted, according to city officials.
The same beaches were closed over the weekend in anticipation of rip currents caused by Tropical Storm Ernesto, which pummeled the coast of Bermuda on Saturday and has since veered off into sea.
New York City Parks Department enforcement staff, as well as lifeguards, will remain posted along the coastline to enforce swimming bans, officials said.
The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory for parts of Queens from 6 p.m. Monday until midnight Tuesday.
