NEW YORK - "The Nanny" is coming to Broadway.
Creator and star of the original television series Fran Drescher says she is developing the story into a musical.
"The Nanny" aired for six seasons in the 90s, with Drescher portraying Fran Fine, the vibrant Queens native who ends up working for a wealthy Manhattan family.
The story was based on Drescher's own Queens upbringing.
She will write the book for the stage version, along with ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson who co-created the original show.
Rachel Bloom, best known for creating and starring in the musical series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" will provide music and lyrics for the production, with Adam Schlesinger as the executive music producer.
