Move over Hamptons. A local exhibit showcases celebrities who spent their summers and weekends in Queens.
Actors Enclave, a collection of photos at The Bayside Historical Society, features Vaudeville and other theater actors vacationing in the neighborhood 100 years ago.
Stars like The Talmadge Sisters, Pearl White and W. C. Fields stayed in the old beachfront property between the Throgs Neck Bridge and Little Neck Bay.
The exhibit also includes pages from The Bayside Bugle, a local newspaper that included town gossip.
"Film stars, silent movie stars, theater stars, Vaudeville stars all walking down Bell Boulevard like you would, like you or I would walk around Bell Boulevard today," Bayside Historical Society Executive Director Laura James said.
"It's just good to have a knowledge of where we've come from and where we're going," Bayside Historical Society President Paul DiBenedetto said.
The society will open its doors to the public January 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and January 14, from noon to 4 p.m.
