Students in Queens had the day off from class for Election Day, and the city's Parks Department found a fun way to keep them busy.

Kids participated in the free field day at Queensbridge Park Tuesday.  They played with parachutes, had tugs-of-war, listened to live music and played soccer with over-sized balls.

Organizers from the Parks Department say they hope the event was a good way for parents to spend the day off with their kids.

“It's our way of just easing the anxiety of Election Day,” said Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver. “But also for kids to come out and have a great time. Last year was High Bridge, now we moved it here to Queens, to Queensbridge Park. And as you can see, the kids are having a great time.”

This is the second year the parks department has held the field day on Election Day.
