Flushing elementary school kids showcase their talents performing skills they learned in a musical after-school program.
Students at P.S. 20 put on a show Wednesday as the finale to their Cultural After School Adventures program. The program provideshigh-quality art experiences through workshops with teaching artists. The school partnered with the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College to teach students how to make music with percussion and other instruments.
"It's very fulfilling to get students at the perfect age at which they could physically play and also really be very engaged with what we're doing." said Teaching Artist Fred Trumpy
"It's been a phenomenal influence on my students. It's had a great impact on their academic success." said Principal Victoria Hart
This is the school's third year working with Queens College music programs.
