NEW YORK — One man is dead after a fatal shooting took place early Thursday morning outside the Dream Downtown hotel in Chelsea.

The New York City Police Department says officers responded to a call for a man shot on West 16th Street just after 12 a.m.

When they arrived, they found 25-year-old Byron Morales, who had been shot in the stomach.

He was brought to the hospital, and pronounced dead.

Officers say some kind of argument led up to the shooting, but the exact cause is not clear.

Police say Morales was not a guest at the hotel. However, there are several night clubs and restaurants in the area.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
