A new film festival in Brooklyn is giving a group of diverse filmmakers a chance to showcase their work in the city.
The inaugural Bed- Stuy Film Festival will kick off this weekend at the Richard Beavers Gallery in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
The event will feature four films that highlight diverse voices from the community.
Aspiring filmmakers who are trying to break into the industry can also take part in different workshops.
One will focus on screenwriting, another on how to raise money.
"I hope that we provide an outlet for everyone to be able to showcase their talents, and ideas, and realize that it’s also open to them," said festival co-founder Nickie Robinson.
The film festival will start accepting submissions for next year's festival beginning October 1st.
