A new manufacturing center is coming to the Brooklyn Army Terminal, with a focus on making high tech equipment accessible and affordable.

Tech Shop Brooklyn is 20,000 square feet, shared worked space in Sunset Park.

People who pay the membership fee will gain access to 3D printers, laser cutters, and other high tech manufacturing gear.

The center will also be offering classes and workshops.

It will also develop a science and art program for kids.

Tech Shop Brooklyn is a product of city's economic development corporation's Futureworks NYC Initiative.

"It's a series of investments that are going to create more than 2,000 jobs over the next five years in advanced manufacturing, good industrial jobs," said Anthony Hogrebe, senior vice president of the city's economic development corporation. "The goal was to not just make this affordable, but also a place we kids can come for STEM education, there are community memberships available, so we want this to be a community center for Sunset Park and for people around the city who want to build things and want to launch industrial businesses."

The Tech Shop officially opens for business at the end of the month.
