St. Barnabas High School is now home to a track & field team made of 23 girls.
To mark the occasion, they completed their first 4K together Wednesday.
The team was only formed three months ago when teachers asked students to decide what new team should be brought to the school, deciding between track and lacrosse.
Through many of the runners are new to the sport, the goal is to become competitive.
"When you set a goal and you work towards it and then accomplish it, I mean, there's not a better feeling so I think that's something that they learned today," said coach Paul Leonard.
The girls say they've also gained confidence through running.
