A law to automatically seal certain criminal records after a required waiting period goes in effect tomorrow.

The Clean Slate Act seals records three years after conviction or release from jail for a misdemeanor and eight years after conviction or release from prison for a felony.

They must have a clean record, and no longer be on probation or parole to qualify. The law goes in effect on Saturday.

Emma Goodman, attorney at the Legal Aid Society, joined “The Rush Hour” on Friday to discuss the impact the legislation will have on New Yorkers with a criminal record.
