A number of comedians have been using their platform to share their reactions to the news of Donald Trump’s reelection.

As the New York Comedy Festival returns for its 20th year, its founder and producer, Caroline Hirsch, wrote in the New York Daily News, “With this presidential election finally here, we need comedy more than ever. But we need it in a way that might surprise you — we need it together, not alone on our iPhones giggling at some snarky X post.”

Hirsch, who is also the founder of Carolines on Broadway, joined “The Rush Hour” on Thursday to talk about comedy and the festival.
