There’s been an ongoing back-and-forth over potential plans to develop a high rise residential tower in Crown Heights.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden says shade from the tower would damage the garden’s sensitive exotic plants, tropical orchids and more.

Meanwhile, the City Council is set to vote next month on rezoning changes of the area, which would allow plans to build a high-rise to move forward.

In a comment to NY1, the attorney for the developer, Franklin Ave Acquisition LLC said, “As we presented at last week’s public hearing, we have asked the City Council to modify the project to allow the workforce housing option for Mandatory Inclusionary Housing, which would provide a viable path forward. The project is currently under review by the [City] Council.”

Adrian Benepe, Brooklyn Botanic Garden president and CEO, joined “The Rush Hour” on Wednesday to discuss the concerns over these plans.
