As parents prepare for children to return to school, a common lunch item is causing some concern.

Boar’s Head deli meats have now been linked to a listeria outbreak.

The state also has the highest number of cases across the country, with 17 reported infections. Eight of the cases have been in New York City.

Boar’s Head is urging consumers to check for products with the “EST.12612” or “P-12612” inside the USDA mark of inspection on the product labels.

Consumers are also urged to not eat any recalled products, instead either throw them away or contact stores about returns.

Boar’s Head says to clean refrigerators, containers and any surfaces that may have touched the sliced deli meats.

Dr. Susannah Hills, surgeon and assistant professor at Columbia University Medical Center, joined “The Rush Hour” on Friday to discuss the listeria outbreak and the FDA’s recent approval of updated COVID vaccines.
