New Yorkers are celebrating Pride Month, and police are preparing for the celebrations.

Organizers said this year’s Pride March will be held virtually on June 27.

Marches are still expected, and some organizers have said that officers are not welcome.

Police Commissioner Dermot Shea told NY1 that officers will do their job — even if they're not wanted by everyone.

He said he doesn’t want a repeat of last year, where there were dangerous incidents despite there not being an official parade.

"We'll do it professionally,” Shea said. “We'll be out there and want to make sure everyone has a great day that day. In terms of some of the decisions that have been made about officers not marching when they have an official parade, we'll continue to work with them on that issue because that was a decision that was made, but not one that we support in any way."

Shea said that that the NYPD needs to be delicate when dealing with leaders of this event.

He said the department doesn't envision any problems.
