NY1 is declaring Barry Grodenchik the winner in a City Council Democratic primary for Mark Weprin's old seat in Queens.
According to the Board of Elections website, with 99 percent of the vote in, Grodenchik has 1,856 votes in the race. His nearest challenger, Bob Friedrich, has 1,554.
Rebecca Lynch is in third place with 1,352 votes. Satnam Singh Parhar has 1,050 votes, Ali Najmi has 653 votes, and Celia Devi Dosamantes has 265.
Grodenchik face Republican nominee Joe Concannon in November.
"I'm just happy I won this evening," he said. "I have to work with everybody. I've known Rebecca for 20 years. She ran a very hard race. It's hard to lose. It's very hard to lose. I've known her family for a very long time. I have to look at the results and see where the votes were and we'll work on that, but I'm just happy to be celebrating tonight."
