Lori Chung can be seen every Saturday and Sunday morning on Spectrum News+, bringing viewers the national news and analysis they need for the weekend. As a native New Yorker, Lori knew from an early age that she was destined for a career as a journalist, having grown up watching several local stories that would prove to have significance far beyond the city’s borders.

For more than a decade, Lori has covered stories that bring attention to the people and places that might otherwise be forgotten in the city. In 2023, she won an Emmy award for her work on “NY1 Celebrates Pride: The New Generation,” highlighting the search for acceptance by students at Harvey Milk High School in Manhattan. During her tenure with Spectrum News NY1, she was the first reporter on the scene of the deadly violence that rocked the annual J’ouvert celebration in Brooklyn 2016, followed the thousands who took the streets of Manhattan to protest police killings of Black men, and covered David Letterman’s final “Late Show” at the iconic Ed Sullivan Theater.

Before joining NY1, Lori worked as an anchor and reporter for News 12, and spent time as a reporter and fill-in anchor for NY1’s sister station, YNN Albany (now Spectrum News), covering the Capital Region. Over the years, she’s also built her news knowledge and abilities behind the scenes, writing and producing for WPIX-TV, WNYT-TV in Albany, and News 12 Networks.

When she’s not on the anchor desk or out on assignment, Lori loves spending time with her family and obsesses over all things involving motherhood and real estate. She’s a graduate of Temple University and is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
