As if there wasn't enough action on the courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, add to the fun the Advantage Arena. It's a gaming zone where visitors can play four different games.

The United States Tennis Association, or USTA, collaborated with game developers to build and bring the U.S. Open to life in games.

What You Need To Know

  • Advantage Arena is an interactive gaming zone for fans at the US Open

  • It features four tennis-themed games

  • The games include Fortnite, US Open: Champions of the Court on Roblox, Top Spin 2K25 and Tennis Clash

"It's been part of a long-term strategy for us of Gen Z, getting with new fans, introducing fans to the sport of tennis as well as the U.S. Open, and really letting them engage in ways that's not possible in real life so it's kind of the fantasy meets the world of sport," said Brian Ryerson, head of product and user experience for the USTA.

There are more realistic tennis games like TopSpin 2K25 and Tennis Clash, which can be played through a mobile app. Gamers can also jump into Roblox’s Champions of the Court, and Fortnite too, in the form of Tennis Storm.

"Fortnite is a little more dodgeball and competitive than it is true tennis where, you know, a tennis class  or a top spin is truly realistic — forehands, backhands, different shot types, strategy you can level up your play with, different racquets and all of that as well," Ryerson said.

Ryerson thinks we will see more of this type of collaboration across the world of sports.

"Some leagues have their game out there, but more on the realism side and recreation. I think you will see a lot more sports going towards the more Roblox of the world and bringing those worlds to life," Ryerson said.

Ryerson called the Advantage Arena concept a new audience capture opportunity for the USTA.

Being the governing body of tennis, they want to get more racquets into more hands, and they figure this is a great way to introduce people to the sport.

The Advantage Arena is located in the Chase Center near the Tennis Center's East Gate.
