NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department is investigating after a 19-year-old man was shot Monday on the Upper West Side.

Sources tell NY1 it happened during a basketball tournament at the Amsterdam Houses playground on West 64th Street.

The victim told police he was playing when he heard shots ring out and suddenly felt pain.

Police say he had been shot in the left arm.

The victim was then taken to St Luke's hospital and is expected to be okay.

Police have not made any arrests.
