NEW YORK - Three women are in police custody after police say they tried to hang a banner from the Manhattan Bridge.

The NYPD says a group of people were seen trying to hang the banner around 6:15 a.m.

Two women in their 30s and one in her 20s were taken in by police.

The rest of the group ran away.

It's not clear what the banner said, but the word "VOTE" was written on it.

Police say the incident did not affect traffic on the bridge.
